Sexual assault is a personal issue for me. The emotional impact of sexual assault and abuse is never fully lifted. The heart of this issue is not a political party or a particular candidate. At the heart of this issue are survivors, victims whose stories are never told, and for whom justice is never served. Strip away partisan politics and we are left with a system that does not support victims; a system that values power over people, and one that must change.
