A Final 2020 Campaign Letter to Constituents of the 49th: VICTORY

Friends, Team Maura feels confident that the remaining Vote By Mail and provisional ballots will not affect the outcome of the race for IL House District 49, and we are proud to announce that WE DID IT

As I have said many times, this election has never been about one person, it is about all of us. We won because of the hard work of a dedicated team, who made phone calls, sent texts, collected signatures, knocked on doors, made donations, planted signs in their yards, and lent support in countless ways big and small. You were incredibly generous with your time and talents and you gave me strength every step of the way. Thank you!

I extend gratitude to my opponent, Laura Curtis, for running a good campaign. I have listened to her priorities and will take action on our shared ideals of fiscal responsibility, honest leadership, and support for our small businesses.

To the people of the 49th District: the road has been long and winding, but I am grateful to have been on this journey with you. You have been the bright spot in a long campaign during an unprecedented period of our lives, and have motivated me to put one foot in front of the other each morning. It is the conversations I have had with all of you, across the political spectrum - many of them hopeful, some difficult, and all of them respectful - that will shape my legislative priorities. I promise to take each and every story that was shared, each question that was asked, each concern that was put forth, with me to Springfield and to take action. I will work to ensure that the communities of the 49th District have what they need to thrive.

I am grateful for my family who showed bravery and strength throughout a long and often tense campaign. Through the early mornings, late nights, and long days, they were always by my side. Thank you and I love you!

The opportunity to represent the 49th District in Springfield is one of the greatest honors of my life. Thank you for putting your faith in me; I promise to serve with the highest integrity, and  to be the change that we all want to see for a strong, healthy, inclusive community. Now, let’s get to work!
